the festival attracts an estimated 2,000 people to the city, to compete or just simply to enjoy the various shows that are on offer. there are also workshops open to the public, with participation from renowned members of the dance scene.

in late october, teresópolis is home to the national week of science and technology (semana nacional de cięncia e tecnologia) - targeted towards children and youths, the week includes workshops, recreation and shows that are centered on the chosen theme of the year but are always intended to pique interest in the field. 

the week of scientific exploration has been held since 2004 and past events have also included science fairs, symposiums, lectures and video screenings.  

organizers wish to mobilize the youth in the community to become more proactive in the field of science both locally and globally.
