at a glance

The Ladeira dos Tabajaras is a small community situated in Copacabana, with around 5,000 residents - It has a tight community spirit, boasting a few frequented bars, eateries, and churches that bring the people together under shared tastes and experiences. This high altitude hill boasts some wonderful views across the city, including Christ the Redeemer, Sugar Loaf and the architecturally celebrated Rio-Niterói bridge.

The Ladeira, or 'Slope', was named after the Trabajaras Indians who migrated to the area from the Northeast in search of work and wealth in the early 20th Century. Ladeira dos Tabajaras is one of the less frequented and discussed favelas in the city, but is most notable for its warm community spirit, sprawling archetypal architecture and wonderful views.
