at a glance
It is a roaming museum that travels through the pathways and alleys of Rocinha exhibiting photos, newspaper clippings, brochures, drawings, letters, maps, objects and films that speak to the history and daily life of inhabitants. Cans of water hark back to a time when residents would walk for miles on foot to quench their thirst, while toy models and kites stand as a record to the beauty of faded youth.

The collection is in constant flux - new objects and testimonials are continually collected as the museum tumbles through the community streets. It offers a symbolic space for discussion, creation and popular participation, with the aim of raising the self-esteem of residents by strengthening their cultural roots. arrow-back      arrow-forward
