Formed in 1998, CIEDS has instigated and carried out more than 354 projects in the areas of health, culture, education and entrepreneurship.
The programs serve more than 2,500 communities, and CIEDS's work has been supplemented and informed by a wide range of studies conducted in the field of sustainable development.
the award winning Oficina de Negocinhos ('small' business workshop) teaches entrepreneurship and business fundamentals to kids and teens across rio de janeiro, as a tool for economic development and social transformation - aiming to help youngsters develop successful entrepreneurial skills, values, and attitudes since early age, the organization focuses on ethics, citizenship, loyal competition, creativity, and team spirit - With the support of socially engaged institutions and private companies, the Oficina de Negocinhos spreads entrepreneurial education to kids in many of Rio de Janeiro's favelas, including cantagalo, pavăo and pavaozinho, santa marta, and rocinha.
