through programs spanning from professional training, to sporting activities, cultural seminars, and other activities these non government organizations (ngo's) have been preparing favela residents to integrate into the greater rio.

other programs include health, nutrition, pre natal care, nursing, childrens' services, dance, music, photography, theater, language teaching, drug and alcohol recovery, and professional training in fields such as website development, tourism, and other services.
