the morcego island is located in the eastern side of guanabara bay, close to the shore of the city of niterói.

it is also nearby the boa viagem island, itself a part of the homonymous neighborhood.

morcego is in itself a rocky peak rising over the lukewarm waters of the bay.

covered by a small batch of green foliage, it remains a standout part of the landscape, being easily seen from the beaches in the nearby neighborhoods of boa viagem and ingá.
