at a glance

a wide range of artists can take credit for both instigating the genre and further developing the style such as jorge ben jor -  heralded as one of the most influential samba-rock in history, he is one brazilian known for taking samba-rock to another level, enhancing the style's reputation as a rich sub-genre and responsible for the 4/4 tempo, something that really took hold after the release of his 1967 album 'o bidu (silencio no brooklyn)'.

other than the man himself, artists that have made a name for themselves playing samba-rock include the likes of tim maia, franco, seu jorge, bebeto, and lulu santos - for those wanting to listen to the genre, there are a number of songs that stand out as fine examples of pure samba-rock. look out for 'reu confesso' by tim maia, 'taj mahal' by jorge ben, and franco's 'rock do rato.'  arrow-back      arrow-forward
