tauá derives its name from an indigenous expression meaning 'red clay', a material which the land was at one time very rich in. Urbanization of the region began in the 1930s, during which period the Igreja de Santo Antônio, or 'Church of Saint Anthony', was first built.

The neighborhood is mostly residential although it does have some commerce. on this link by wikimapia it is possible to see a  satellite view of the district of tauá - we publish more information about tauá   on this page.

Located in the Southeast of Ilha do Governador, zumbi is a middle-class neighborhood - It contains the military police battalion and the Jequiá Iate Clube (jequiá Yacht Club), as well as a municipal school. arrow-back      arrow-forward
