one of the most famous swimming events in leblon is the rei e rainha do mar (king and queen of the sea), an aquatic marathon competition starting on leblon beach and ending at arpoador beach. 

leblon beach is easily reachable by using the buses going along copacabana and ipanema - on this link an early morning shot of leblon beach is posted daily, showing water conditions.
