at a glance

a wide variety of tropical plant species grow here, and with a little luck one may even come across some monkeys as well - animal life found in the area varies from squirrels, possums and lizards to a wide selection of bird, bat and butterfly species

it is possible to find several endangered plant species here, such as the orchid of quarries, the white vellozia, many bromeliads, and anthurium of stones - hikers see monkeys, squirrels, lizards, snakes, skunks and bats, as well as birds such as the eared-owl, the hawk carijó, and the  colaptes campestris (woodpecker / pica pau do campo).

a reason for dois irmãos' status as one of rio's best-kept secrets is its location - while the hill sits between the leblon and são conrado neighborhoods, the trail is only accessible through vidigal - literally by walking up stairs past the houses at the base of the hill.   arrow-back      arrow-forward
