at a glance

theater troupes from all over brazil participate in the festival, which is judged by professors and directors from nearby drama schools - it has been consistently attended by more than 5,000 people and recognized as one of the most important arts festivals in the country.

in august, the niterói jazz festival brings together local artists with others from around brazil and the world to perform free outdoor concerts - only the opening event is exclusive to ticket holders. an extension of the leblon jazz festival in rio, the niterói edition came into its own almost instantly, with a variety of styles, bands and djs hosted at locations around the city.

though the opening event in the municipal theater is invite/ticket-only, all other performances are both outdoors and free, and it is an excellent juxtaposition of local artists with others from all over brazil and the world.  arrow-back      arrow-forward
