The park is home to the Mata de Restinga (Restinga Forest), a typical marshland, which borders the beaches and lagoons of the district of Recreio. It is termed 'Natural' because the greenery is not landscaped, but instead left to grow and adapt organically. The park is frequented by hikers, environmental researchers, biologists and botanists, fascinated by the unique ecosystem. There are several trails within the park which visitors can navigate as they observe the unique flora and fauna. The trails are not very strenuous and are almost entirely flat, providing a pleasant path for people of varying fitness and mobility. |
