at a glance

for those looking to relax and enjoy the more subtle sides of nature, the beaches are perfect for relaxing away from the city's busier beaches, whilst for those looking for a bit of excitement, the waters here are known for top quality waves, which attract many sports enthusiasts to the area.

however, one of the most satisfying endeavors to undertake at pedra do pontal is the relatively easy hike to its peak, at a modest altitude of 120 meters, which takes about 25 minutes to complete.

throughout the hike there are a number of spots to stop and appreciate the surrounding beauty, but it is at the top where the real payoff lies - with an exceptional view of rio's coastline, including the pedra da gávea, tijuca and pedra branca parks in the distance.

the rocks can get quite slippery after rains, and a minimum of 24 hours of dry weather is recommended before attempting a hike.  arrow-back      arrow-forward
