its name 'muda da tijuca' can be translated to english as 'change of tijuca' and it is said that this name derives from the fact that in the past travelers stopped in the area to change the horseshoes of their rides - nowadays the sub-neighborhood is square shaped by rua general espírito santo cardoso to the north, rua garibaldi to the west, rua conde de bonfim to the south, and rua uruguai to the east.
