at a glance

Nowadays the neighborhood is mostly residential, although it does have some significant industrial establishments within its limits, such as the recycling company, Markobras Ambiental, or 'Environmental Markobas'.

The main access avenue is Rua Embaú, or 'Embaú Road', which connects Avenida Pastor Martin Luther King Junior, or 'Father Martin Luther King Junior Avenue', in the west, to Rodovia Presidente Dutra, or 'President Dutra Highway', in the east.

The neighborhood is home to the Opera Popular de Acari, or 'Popular Opera House of Acari', an initiative and establishments created to host cultural events for the people of Parque Colúmbia and the surrounding neighborhoods. It exhibits a diverse range of performances as well as running ballet, music, dance and photography workshops. It also contains the Casa de Leitura, or 'Reading House' - a community library that runs a workshop to encourage children to read.
