the area of the fazenda nazaré (nazareth plantation) where the mill was located, was to the east of the estrada de ferro dom pedro ii (dom peter ii railroad), which later became the central do brasil (brazil central railway).

the nazareth plantation was developed and subdivided by a luiz costa. the lar brasileiro (brazilian home) development and the vila nossa senhora de pompéia (our lady of pompeii) were constructed in 1935.

the development included the establishment of several public parks. the cia suburbana de terrenos e construções s. a. (suburban land and construction company) made further improvements to the property near our lady of pompeii church.
