by the nineteenth century the neighborhood was already fairly well established. one of the first schools for boys in the region was established here around 1870. and shortly after, the owner of a local plantation - the fazenda da ribeira, opened a theatre here between 1872 and 1877 on rua serrão (serrão street).

in 1898, the companhia cantareira e a viação fluminense (cantareira viaçao fluminense company) initiated the construction of a bridge to provide access to the mainland. this little community has a lot to offer its residents and visitors alike. among the points of interest located in zumbi are the escola municipal cuba (municipal school cuba), the parque almirante sousa e melo (almirante sousa e melo park) and.

furthermore, there are a number of elite institutions located in zumbi. among them are the military police battalion, the Jequiá Iate Clube (jequiá Yacht Club), which was established in 1919, and the posto de saúde necker pinto (necker pinto health office). arrow-back      arrow-forward
