in those days travelers had the choice of follwoing the estrada real de santa cruz (royal road of the holy cross) or the estrada do macaco (monkey road) now called rua quiririm (quiririm street) when in the area near the fazenda do valqueire (valqueire plantation).

the latter is part of the rua luís beltrão (luís beltrão street) and rua baronesa (baronesa street). it is now a shorter distance to the amenities of the nearby bairro of jacarepaguá and the 2016 olympic village - furthermore, the development is home to the hospital rio de janeiro and the oldest building still in existance in the neighborhood is the igreja são roque (saint roque church).
