at a glance

protruding out from the beach, the rocks give visitors prime sights of the ocean, and surrounding cagarras islands as well  - around and after sunset, a gorgeous view of the ocean, the mountains and of the favela of vidigal all lit up are a treat not to be missed.

access to this small park has been made easier via paved paths recently added to the stones, reaching all the way to the top of the rock, complete with a small square and two benches.

in the seas surrounding the rock is one of the most popular surfing spots in the city - in fact, arpoador beach is considered one of the cradles of surfing culture in brazil in the 1960s and 1970s, and now plays host to a number of competitions.  arrow-back      arrow-forward
