at a glance

in praça general tibúrcio there is a fountain and a statue honoring the soldiers who fought and fell during the wars at the time of the foundation of the city.

facing the water, one the left side of the beach there is the entrance to the pista cláudio coutinho, a hiking walkway, paved and of easy access, built on the side of the urca mountain.

the pista cláudio coutinho is  a preservation area, about 1200 meters long, and allows beautiful views of the morro da babilônia, the bay, praia vermelha, and the cotunduba island - plenty of local wildlife can be photographed along the walk.
