at a glance

Leblon is the quieter and more discreet sibling to the historically ideological, chic and celebrated neighborhood of Ipanema. This sub-district stands out first and foremost for its exclusivity and cozy residential charm.

Leblon's peaceful allure has attracted the likes of celebrities, artists and intellectuals since the 1970s. Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso and others would be seen there in there hay-day, while today contemporary stars line the cafes and bars.

Alto Leblon (Higher Leblon), to the west of the wider Leblon district, enjoys peace and tranquility. It winds up the hillside and is almost entirely residential and free from trade, boasting wide arborized roads and impressive homes.

There is one culinary establishment in the area called Matuto do Leblon, which serves traditional Northeastern cuisine such as tapioca pancakes and exotic juices - The rich flavors, diverse menu, and playful decor make it a popular and highly acclaimed eatery. arrow-back     arrow-forward
