another important landmark, the copacabana fort was made to face the new threats of naval warfare, in 1908, but after world war ii it became obsolete, and in the 1980s it was transformed into a museum, still active today. a short distance away from the coast, just behind praia do diabo and pedra do arpoador, there is an ample green park of great beauty named parque garota de ipanema, this area was named after the famous bossa nova tune 'garota de ipanema' by vinícius de moraes and Antônio Carlos Jobim. the park is very popular among skaters and from time to time musical events are held in it.
