at a glance

It is also possible to get to Silvestre by going through the center of the city, through the famous Lapa Arches and climbing the hills of the Santa Teresa neighborhood - Alternatively, there are buses that are integrated with the metrô system that leave from Largo do Machado station, pass through Laranjeiras and Cosme Velho neighborhoods in the Zona Sul. These rides offer brilliant views of luxury-- with mansions, castles, and estates reflecting decadent French architecture.

An interesting note about Santa Teresa is that it grew in the 18th century as a result of a convent of the same name, that inspired architects of that era to create more of the same kind of architecture throughout the city. arrow-back     arrow-forward
