at a glance

the district of taquara, located in the western zone of rio de janeiro, is made up of a collection of sub districts, including colônia, distrito industrial, rio grande, jardim grande, jardim boiuna, largo da taquara and pau da fome - the district is one of eleven within the jacarepaguá administrative region.

taquara was first cultivated as a bamboo farm owned by the family of baron taquara in 1757 - in 1993, taquara became its own district, after separating from the district of jacarepaguá.

the bandeirantes highway begins within the district and continues through the borough of barra da tijuca, and it is the neighborhood's main access road. arrow-back     arrow-forward
