over the years, many more chinese immigrants relocated to brazil, for various work related reasons, with one of the first recorded accounts of a chinese community, in rio de janeiro, in 1821, when johann moritz rugendas documented a group of chinese workers in the city's botanical garden.

being a community that is close to their native culture, the chinese brought with them their authentic cuisine, which is now ever present in marvelous city, with a wealth of chinese restaurants and food options spread across the city.

the development and diversity of chinese cuisine is representative of china's long history and vast territory, with each dynasty, new recipes were created and regional differences expanded.

many different flavors, aromas, shapes, even political, cultural, and traditional elements converged to create what is known as the eight cuisines. - the characteristic su cuisine is probably the most popular, as it is the one easier to find in restaurants worldwide.  arrow-back      arrow-forward
