at a glance

mussarela, or mozzarella, will be different than normal in the fact that it has a stronger taste and is more of a yellow color, instead of the normal white - one can always order a pasta dish such as macarrão, called macaroni in english, or a lasgna.

while enjoying a night out, many brazilians will enjoy a plate of sausages and cheeses such as linguiça calabresa, which is a sausage with red pepper flakes,  linguiça toscana, which is sausage with onions, garlic and paprika, and catupiry (brazilian style creamy cheese) - for dessert no one can say no to chocotone, which is the italian sweet bread with chocolate chips, particularly famous during the holidays. 

although vine clippings were brought over by the original portuguese explorers, and vines from spain arrived with the jesuit missionaries, it was not until the italians arrived that brazil become much more known for their wine - although certainly not on par with the south american neighbors of argentina and chile, wine making is a serious business and enjoying a tannat with a meal is as much brazilian as it is italian.  arrow-back      arrow-forward
