at a glance

wine bars abound across the city, made from an assortment of domestic and international vines - l'orangerie in laranjeiras is a popular and sophisticated establishment, which has a happy hour and offers courses and tastings, while la botella in ipanema is an intimate bistrô, with gourmet culinary offerings and a stylish décor.

there are also a number of wine events hosted in the city, such as the wine and food festival which took place in 2014 to showcase and increase awareness about brazilian and international products as well as to expand cariocas' pallet - vinhos de portugal no rio is another festival taking place in 2015, which aims to put portugal's wines in the city's sensibility and cabinet.

rio may not be a great centre of wine production, but it certainly is a focal point for its consumption - with an ever-expanding populace of wine enthusiasts and connoisseurs, it is home to some of the finest wine shops, bars and festivals in south america.   arrow-back      arrow-forward
