the inauguration of the christmas tree is usually located at parque do cantagalo, on the ipanema / copacabana side of the lagoa, along avenida epitácio pessoa.

some years, the inauguration is held at estádio de remo da lagoa, near to the skate park at avenida borges de medeiros, 1524, in lagoa.

the tree is then moved around the lagoa for one month, so that it can be easily visible from different parts of the neighborhood.
