in 2004 Brazil joined the united nations' mission for stabilization of haiti, minustah, and became more involved with diplomatic relations with the country, especially after 2010, when an earthquake in haiti devastated the nation and caused enormous GDP losses - since this time Brazil has become more involved in the areas of safety, social issues, politics and governmental institutions.
