however, on the journey, participants are treated to a number of landmarks, amongst a wealth of natural flora and fauna. highlights include a refreshing natural stream, the gruta dos primatas (cave of primates), as well as a host of tamarin monkeys that inhabit the trails.

once reaching the summit of the hike, participants are rewarded with the exquisite waterfall: cachoeira dos primatas. the waterfall has a great diving well for hikers to cool down in after the climb, as well a view of the rodrigo de freitas lagoon, through the trees.
