one of the biggest and most famous favelas in the city, vidigal emerged in the 1940's, and is a welcoming community for tourists, with a number of activities for them to partake in.

once through vidigal, and at the start of the off road trail, participants can expect to hike for about one hour and a half through unspoiled nature, with a selection of great view points on the route.

the hike is quite demanding, but once at the 533 meter summit, the rewards are exceptional.
