famed as the second highest peak in rio de janeiro city, pico da tijuca is a vertigo-inducing site at the tip of the parque national da tijuca. a popular location for exploration, the peak sits at the apex of one of the oldest hiking trails in rio, wowing visitors with its dizzying heights and spectacular views.

the pico da tijuca, literally translated as the tijuca peak, is situated, in the floresta da tijuca section of the tropical parque da tijuca.  although the national park touches a number of the city's districts, the pico da tijuca is located in the jacarepaguá neighborhood, with access from various different points.
