at a glance

to reach the bottom of the pedra da tartaruga visitors need to hike along a medium-difficulty trail, starting at the end of praia de barra de guaratiba (also called praia grande) ittakes about 45 minutes to complete.

if visitors then chose to climb the hill, there is a relatively short, but steep hike to the summit of pedra da tartaruga, which takes another 30 minutes to complete, eventually arriving at the 98 meters high peak.

the climb is considered to be tricky, and should be approached with caution, but once at the top, those that dare the hike are rewarded with one of the most unique and impressive views in the entire city - not to mention an unforgettable pic-nic location.
