pico dos quatro is a south-facing 566 meter (1,856 ft) mountain peak that reinforces the more famous pedra da gávea. part of the parque national da tijuca, it is the 71st highest mountain in rio de janeiro and the 286th highest mountain in brazil.

pico dos quarto is made of gneiss rock, whose minerals form band-like structures that alternate between different shades of gray, when looking at a cross-section of the rock.
