during the 1950s and 1960s, many of the rail lines serving rio de janeiro's suburbs departed from the dom pedro ii station, including lines 10, 12, 13, 23, 30, 31, 32, and 33, among others.

these days, the station formerly known as the dom pedro ii station has been renamed central do brasil, and it is run by the rail company supervia - made famous by the 1998 film central station, which won an oscar for best foreign film that year.

the companhia brasileira de trens urbanos (cbtu), known as the brazilian urban trains company in english is an organization created on february 22, 1984 to manage brazil's extensive network of suburban trains, including those within the city of rio de janeiro.   arrow-back      arrow-forward
