further advances and developments in these two years included the modernisation of 31 stations, the implementation of an initiative to integrate the train and metrô lines, the introduction of the first group of female drivers, and, the initiation of an environmental education program. 

during 2012, 30 new trains were purchased in china and placed on rio's tracks, facilitating an increase of 290,000 seats for passengers per day - the state government also ordered another 60 trains which took to the tracks throughout 2014.

since 2011 supervia has also run the teleférico do alemăo, or 'german cable car', which is the first and only cable car system used for mass transportation in brazil - the cable system is fully integrated into the railway system and has six stations, including bonsucesso/tim, adeus, baiana, alemăo/Kibon, itararé e palmeiras.  arrow-back      arrow-forward
