further west, on the other side of lameirão point, is pintor castagneto, also known as praia dos coqueiros. named after a painter who once lived here, or alternatively for the wide variety of coconuts thereabouts, this particular beach is dotted with stands that sell snacks and soft drinks. immediately adjacent is praia de são roque, which has an eponymous plaza and is most frequented by local fishermen.
