praia da moreninha, on the west side of the island, directly across from tamoios beach, is the largest and one of the most popular beaches on paquetá, with attractions such as moreninha rock, a restaurant, various food and drink stands and the best view of neighboring brocoió island (ilha do brocoió).

next is josé bonifácio beach (praia josé bonifácio), named for the famous brazilian statesman.

this particular beach is also known as praia da guarda because of the guardhouse that once existed here to protect the residence of josé bonifácio, which still stands.
