we included praia do jequiá in our work, simply a s a tribute to what this beach once was - in fact, praia do jequiá no longer exists, as the tides and the pollution had the best of it - leaving very little sand if any, and low waters. this praia was declared área de proteção ambiental e recuperação urbana (aparu) do jequiá, and a number of provisions are aiming of restoring its beauty. while this area may not hold much touristic interest, it is still possible to enjoy beautiful city views behind ilha seca, and it can always serve as a reminder of the importance of careful eco-planning.
