the neighborhood of zumbi on ilha do governador is one of the oldest on the islands, built on the fishing industry and the cultivation of clams for lime production. it is also one of the nicest neighborhoods as it it home to much of the upper and middle class on the island. about 130 meters long, praia do zumbi is still a large, square stretch of sand that is home to a football pitch and a few food kiosks.
