it can only be described as a natural wonder, with the original coastal vegetation still mostly intact and its 'sandwiched' position between two mountains only adding to the atmosphere of delightful seclusion that pervades the area. 

it has a golden shoreline that stretches some 950 meters, including the small section called 'prainha,' and is lapped by clear blue water.

the beach is particularly popular among surfers, who are attracted by the excellent waves - state competitions are regularly held here, and it has the reputation for having 'the highest waves on the brazilian coast.'
