at a glance

it was founded in 1931 in the tijuca region, thus becoming the third eldest samba school in brazil still active - it originated from four even older carnival blocs which were fused together in order to make bigger and better parades.

its headquarters are now in the borel hill, in the santo cristo neighborhood, and part of the tijuca area.

it is a somewhat traditionalistic school, which takes pride in keeping alive some of the eldest elements of the carnival parades - while also showing a deeper connection with the poverty of the founders, and of many of those who participate in their parades, so people with less means are not excluded. arrow-back      arrow-forward
