the main element that consistently made mocidade independente stand out, was the heavy and high-class use of drums and their music - all of the mocidade's parades were conceived as to always take full advantage of their musical element. 

mocidade delivered a long and successful presence in the first division, but there was always the desire to do better - in 1991 it entered the special division, becoming an instant champion.
