From schemes to re-develop the favelas, to strong investment in private enterprise, as well as major initiatives to improve the train services, highways and airways, the state government is heavily investing in improving the economic climate for investors and commercial enterprisers from around the globe. In light of this increased investment and interest in Brazil, and Rio in particular, the city plays host to a number of prestigious fairs, conventions and events at which consumers are free to attend in abundance, while producers share ideas, network and innovate. Rio hosts an internationally significant biennial Oil and Gas fair and conference with over 1500 participants, organized by the Instituto Brasileiro de Petróleo, Gás e Biocombustíveis - IBP (brazilian institute of Oil, Gas and Biofuels) - a colossal R$488 billion investment in the Brazilian Oil and Gas sector is predicted, with most of it concentrated in Rio, where a vast 80% of the country's resource reside. |
