the site where cabo frio stands today was discovered in 1503 by italian explorer amerigo vespucci. The largest micareta in Rio de Janeiro state, Cabofolia arrives every summer, to the city of Cabo Frio - As the word stables it, a 'micareta' is a time in the midst of Lent, but that meaning has evolved to simply 'some time other than Carnival', and conveniently placed in the months of December or January, this grand concert, lasting three days, gathers very famous and well-liked names in the Brazilian hall of fame of several music genres, from samba to funk, rock, mpb, sertanejo, and reggae. Entertainers, local bands, celebrities, singers and dancers give a major show in one of the biggest convention centers in the city, for an audience of thousands of cheering Brazilians and foreigners - and street parties animate the city as if it were carnival. | january | |||
