in a city as busy and frenetic as rio de janeiro there are always a large number of cars on the road, making road safety a prominent issue in carioca life. great efforts have been put in place to reduce drunk-driving in the city, especially with the creation of the operação lei seca law, whilst the smart phone application, piloto da vez, has been designed to complement that law, to preserve lives on the road, and keep traffic safe.

the application raises awareness of the dangers of drink driving, and aims to encourage people to leave the car at home with a number of engaging features and information. included is a feature that randomly chooses a designated driver from users friends, and an information feature that informs the user of nearby bus routes, taxi services, and subways.
