the film journeys the saga of two boys, the son of a duke, luís bernardo (miguel thiré) and a native, josé tradimundo (ícaro silva) who develop a friendship over the thirteen year period of the portuguese court in brazil.

the boys' friendship is later complicated when they both fall for the same beautiful black slave iaínha (sheron menezes).
