fast & furious 5, aka fast & furious 5: rio heist and fast five, is the fifth edition of the fast & furious film franchise and sees vin deisel reprieve his role as dominic toretto - the film follows him as he and his gang of racers attempt to steal $100 million from a corrupt businessman going by the name hernan reyes.

many of the film's key scenes were filmed in rio de janeiro and there are some very impressive shots of sugar loaf mountain, ipanema beach, the fort of copacabana, christ the redeemer, and the dona marta lookout point.

the cast received much attention from the locals during shooting and it is reported that they were often mobbed by crowds of excited cariocas wanting autographs.
