situated in the outer edge of the
archipelago, ilha nova is somewhat of a
pivoting point between
the wetlands to the south, and the open waters of the
sepetiba bay to the northwest -being relatively small, this island is
separated from bom jardim by a narrow strait.
to the north one can still find
marshes
belonging to the nature reserve in the eastern shore of the bay,
and, after them, the famous pedra de guaratiba neighborhood.
such variety of scenarios makes the
sepetiba bay region an
active touristic hotspot in rio de janeiro.
