at a glance

for the most part of the 1970s and early 1980s, the focus was on amplifying the loudness and aggressiveness, leading to some of the hardcore elements of the genre, like death or black metal, which granted it a fairly dismissive attitude from the general public. this cycle would be broken by a new generation of metal artists, which became very well-established in the 1990s - as they introduced more upbeat and pleasant arrangements. the path was thus open for subgenres like power metal and the fusions with other styles,  becoming more prevalent in the 2000s - in south america power metal would become especially popular, and several bands and musicians originated here to eventually earn worldwide recognition.  arrow-back      arrow-forward
